Statistics
Description
The Graduate Interdisciplinary Program (GIDP) in Statistics supports and encourages the central role of statistical thinking in the biological, physical, engineering, financial, and social sciences. We provide necessary training for students who wish to develop core expertise in statistical theory and methodology, and also for students who intend to apply their statistical knowledge in practical, transdisciplinary research; targeted subject-matter specialties include biometry, bioinformatics, econometrics, educational statistics, operations research and applied probability, psychometrics, spatial/spatio-temporal analysis, statistical genetics, and stochastic modeling. Courses of study in statistics for both the MS and PhD degrees are available, along with a PhD Minor and Graduate Certificate. Through these offerings the GIDP facilitates and coordinates graduate statistics instruction across the campus and promotes University-wide activities in the broad areas of both theoretical and applied, interdisciplinary statistics.
